Manila Bay. It is famous for its scenic and sunset view. It is located at the heart of Manila. Families, friends, lovers, and visitors come to this place to enjoy the view, eat at the restaurants at the bayside, chat at the coffee shops, or drink at the bars.

Luzon is the largest among the three major islands of the Philippine Republic. Similar to other two islands, Luzon has been organized into various regions.

First, there’s the National Capital Region (NCR) where Manila is the regional center. Its local government units include: Caloocan, Las Pinas, Makati, Malabon, Mandaluyong, Manila, Marikina, Muntinlupa, Navotas, Paranaque, Pasay, Pasig, Pateros, Quezon City, San Juan, Taguig, and Valenzuela.

Next, Luzon has the Cordillera Administrative Region (or CAR) which has Baguio as its center. CAR includes Abra, Apayao, Baguio, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga, and Mountain Province as its local government units.

Then Ilocos Region has San Fernando, La Union as its regional center. The LGUs include: Dagupan, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, and Pangasinan.

Cagayan Valley Region has Tuguegarao City as its regional center. It is composed of Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, and Santiago as LGUs.

Central Luzon region’s regional capital is San Fernando City, Pampanga. This region is composed of Angeles, Aurora, Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Olongapo, Pampanga, Tarlac, and Zambales.

A new region called CALABARZON has Calamba, Laguna as its regional center. It is composed of Batangas, Cavite, Laguan, Lucena, Quezon, and Rizal as local government units.

Another mnemomic region is called MIMAROPA, which stands for the following local units: Marinduque, Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Palawan, Puerto Princesa, and Romblon. The regional center is Calapan in Mindoro.

Last, Bicol Region has Legazpi as its regional center. This region has ALbay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Masbate, and Sorsogon as its LGUs.

Banaue Rice Terraces. They are ricefields carved out from the bellies of the mountains in the Mountain Province. They were first built by indigenous peoples, especially the Ifugaos hundreds of years ago using native tools. Banaue has been raised to the status of a World Heritage by UNESCO. A great place to visit for a backpacker but make  sure you are a good hiker, Enjoy!
