Sayaw Beach Resort is a beach area nicely located in Barangay Sayaw, Barili Municipality, Cebu, Philippines. Getting there is quite easy as it is close to the highway of Barili Town.
Sayaw is a transliteration for both “swallow” bird and the noun/verb for “dance” in Cebuano or Bisayan language. It seems that the locals in the past named this barangay according to the bird species (Sayaw – or Swallow in English, ‘Hirundinidae’ bird family) which are quite numerous in the area.
To the town center, it only takes less than 3 hours through any transport, which is around 61 kilometers from Cebu City. You can get to Sayaw Beach via bus, V-Hire (Van), taxi, or private vehicle.
The beach area is vast and spacious as there are no gigantic structures built for visitors except to the native huts and small concrete houses nearby.
The sand is somehow white because they are mostly from coral stones. Do not expect powdery sand instead some rocky beach but gentle enough to your soles.
Good news is that this place is for budget travelers. Second, it is not crowded even during high seasons.
Nearby Sayaw Beach Resort, you can discover exciting natural attractions. Of course, you need to take public transport to get to such places as Mantayupan Falls, among other places.
You can find smaller caves if you want a bit of adventure, but you need to rent a small paddle boat ( around Php300 for 3-4 guests) and paddle to the other side of the beach to find them. Paddling would be exciting and fun if you have not done it before yet and especially when you get to your cave destination.
Molave Milk Station
Close to Sayaw Beach, you can visit a farm that offers fresh cow’s milk, dairy ice cream, and other snacks you may find. They have a great space and place to relax. In fact, most visitors take their time enjoying their snacks while taking photos.
This station now also offers ‘Rice Bowls’ in various menus such as beef tapa, pinakbet rice, pork steamed rice, fish escabeche, pork chop bistek, pork sinigang, linat-ang baka, mushroom porkchop, and more.
If you want to get back to Cebu City, you need to take the last bus at 8 PM then. If you cannot catch it, you find it hard to get a place to sleep over. Of course, people in such places are kind and generous to offer you a place in their humble abodes.
In this beach resort, you can find some simple facilities enough to support your personal and day's needs. You can rent any of the following facilities with budget rates:
Cottages / Entrance Fees
Yes, you can rent a cottage at the beach for 150 to 250 Philippine peso unit. You maybe required to pay 20 pesos if you want to enter into the beach, which is basic for most public beaches on the island.
Private Rest House: (PhP100/hour)
Nearby the beach is this private house where you can stay as long or as short as you want. That is a kind and fair offer, I think.
You might need to bring your own preferred food and drinks, not only to save and satisfy your taste but also because the food resources in the area are not very available. Only a small ‘sari-sari’ store (small store with basic stuff including cigarettes, biscuits, canned salmon, candies, etc.)
However, of course, if you want to travel light and spend less and live simply, you can survive enough with this store’s provisions.
Before getting to this place, you may have to reserve your cottage, pumpboat or any to make sure you get what you need upon arrival.

Take a bus (coach) or mini-bus from Cebu South Bus Terminal bound for Barili. Then, you have to get off at Shamrock - a famous bus stop in the south where you can take your breakfast/lunch (or proceed to the public market for more food choices).
From Shamrock or public market, you can take a motorcycle to Sayaw Beach Resort (or Mantayupan Falls).
Alternately, you can take public transport from the town proper to Sayaw Beach Resort (around 30 Pesos per person).
When you are in the municipality, do not forget to look around further to explore better and enjoy available travel resources. Some of them are the following
